Oceanside Transit Center Improvement Project -SANDAG's construction of the station improvement project is now underway and is expected to be complete in late 2017. The project will enhance the capacity and reliability of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) coastal rail corridor, improve schedule efficiencies and travel times, and modernize the station for a better rider experience. Currently, crews are working to extend the existing easternmost platform, install the foundations for new light poles, and relocate several utility lines. There will be intermittent nighttime work throughout project construction. During this time, nearby residents can expect some noise and lights. Service interruptions are not anticipated at this time, and transit riders should continue to use their regular platforms to board. Learn more by visiting, emailing, or calling 858-549-RAIL.

Dredge July 2016.jpg

Oceanside Harbor dredgingThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contracted this year with CJW Construction, Inc. to perform the annual Oceanside Harbor Entrance Channel dredging job, the objective of which is to maintain a safe, navigable Harbor entrance for use by the Navy and recreational boaters.  Fortunately, the sand dredged from the mouth of the Harbor is being placed on Oceanside’s beaches.  The contractor is currently working to complete a channel within the Harbor entrance that will be to the anticipated depth; following that, they will continue their work to accomplish this year’s complete dredging plan.  The City was recently advised that the USACE’s contractor will not complete the job until September.  260,000 cubic yards must be dredged from the Harbor mouth to ensure boater safety.  The USACE is using a new contractor this year.  For questions, please contact USACE staff at (213) 452-3923.

Army Corps of Engineers Flood Protection Project  - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be removing sediment from the San Luis Rey Riverbed this Fall.  The project is needed to increase flow capacity in the river, and is the next step in moving the river closer to a 100-year flood level capacity.  During this construction, the USACE requires the closure of the San Luis Rey Bicycle Trail between Foussat Road and Douglas Drive.  More
