General Plan Update - The project team has made considerable progress on this first phase of the General Plan Update: full drafts of the Economic Development Element (EDE), the Energy and Climate Action Element (ECAP), and the Climate Action Plan (CAP) have been prepared and are now undergoing internal staff review; and a Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the EDE and ECAP has been completed. Following internal staff review of the EDE, ECAP, and CAP, the City intends to release these documents with the DEIR for 45-day public review. During the 45-day public review period, the City will host a second community workshop on the Draft Energy and Climate Action Element (ECAP) and Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP). Staff will post an announcement with the date, time, and location of the workshop on the project webpage and City calendar. We encourage interested parties to review the draft materials and provide input to Principal Planner Russ Cunningham at rcunningham@ci.oceanside.ca.us.

Oceanside Police Department Partners with Ring Neighbors App - Ring Neighbors app creates a "digital community" similar to a neighborhood watch group and gives you real-time safety alerts from your neighbors. With this new partnership, the Ring Neighbors app allows the Oceanside Police Department access to videos shared by Oceanside residents through their Ring doorbell videos. The app allows users to access local crime and safety information within a 5-mile radius of their homes. Residents do not have to own the Ring products, and the app is free. Police do not have the ability to turn on cameras---but they can view videos shared by users, which saves time in investigating crimes.
