Green Holiday Gift & Brew Tour - December 6 -  Come see what's brewin' in Oceanside!  Hop on the double decker bus for an afternoon of good brew and eats while browsing the latest eco-savvy shopping.  The City’s Green Oceanside Zero Waste Team and Main Street Oceanside will host this first ever tour. This inaugural event is the first local brew tour that will showcase Oceanside’s growing craft brew and local food movement and promote Zero Waste goals by putting a little extra green into this Holiday season.  More News, Rebates, and Free Workshops and eco-friendly holiday tips.

Arts and Culture - The Arts are alive in Oceanside, and there's something for every member of the family!   You won't want to miss the excitement of the First Friday Art Walk, the music of Hildegarden von Bingen, and Oceanside Museum of Art's Mega Reception featuring five amazing exhibitions.  See link for details.  Dive in and experience the best of Oceanside's arts and culture scene and make it a night to remember.

Economic Development News - Oceanside has a dynamic business climate with new restaurants, retail shops, breweries, and manufacturing businesses moving into the City every day.  The City's Economic Development Division assists businesses with expansion and relocation to Oceanside by offering site searches, business visits, demographic and statistical information, and assistance with permit processing and business license issuance.  Check the link above for the latest new and coming business news.








Flood Protection and PreparednessWith winter coming, it's important to remember that Oceanside is exposed to riverine and coastal flooding.  Find out if your property lies in a flood zone, how you can protect your home or business, flood safety and City services in this regard.

New Beach Restrooms Coming Soon -  The work on the Breakwater Way, Tyson and Sportsfisher restrooms has begun and contractors will begin the renovations on the mid-Pier restroooms and the Wisconsin Street restrooms in early February.     













Senior Transportation - “Solutions for Seniors on the Go,” Oceanside’s Senior Transportation Program, provides Oceanside residents 65 or older with three transportation options to easily get them to and from doctor’s appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, and other daily outings.  The three different transportation services offered are Taxi Scrip purchase, Van Service, and Volunteer Driver Service.  If you are an Oceanside resident 65 or over in need of transportation please call (760) 435-5155 or visit www.oceansiderec.com for an application. 

Volunteer Drivers Needed - To be eligible, you must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver’s license (a good DMV record) and insurance. There are no set schedules and you are able to pick the appointments that best suit your personal schedule - no minimum number of rides required and you will receive mileage reimbursement.   Volunteering is easy!  Contact Janet Batchelor at (760) 435-5253 to get started. 








Parks and Recreation -  Please join us for the annual Tree Lighting event on December 4 and the Winter Ball on December 14.  Registration has begun for Winter Recreation classes.  Check link for all the fun and festive details.   









Oceanside Public Library News

Both Library locations will be closing at 3:00 p.m. on December 24 and December 31 and will be closed December 25 and January 1.  The  Bookmobiles will not be in service from December 22 - January 2. 








New Police Homeless Outreach Team - The Oceanside Police Department recently rolled out the new Homeless Outreach Team (H.O.T).  Two officers have been budgeted to work full-time on interacting with the homeless population and matching them to available social services.  Officers will be helping people obtain the documents they may need to enter programs and get back on their feet. 








Beach Access Improvements -  Parks Department staff began making structural repairs and replacing handrails and stairs at 6 beach access points along Pacific Street.  The points are Neptune, Windward, Civic Center, Tyson Park, Ash, and Cassidy.  The project will be completed by Spring 2015.  Only 1 access point will be closed at a time.   








Winter Ball Senior Dance - Tickets are going quickly for the Winter Ball on Sunday, December 14 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Held this year at the Junior Seau Beach Community Center, this year's Ball will be a wonderful event with live music, food and drink.  You can pick up tickets at the City's Country Club Senior Center or the El Corazon Senior Center today!








KOCT News - KOCT, Oceanside's community television station offers a new season of Journalist Roundtable beginning January 8.   Read more and learn about their new partnerships and high definition mobile studio.








Club 55 Senior Fitness Program - Get healthy and stay healthy this holiday season and into the new year.  Club 55 is an affordable workout center for Oceanside seniors and qualified adult residents. Stop by and check it out.  They are open Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at 448 Country Club Lane in Oceanside.  Available equipment includes treadmills, weight machines and free weights.  For more information, call the Vista Community Clinic at 760-631-5000 x 7206.
