City Council District Elections - On May 3, 2017, the Oceanside City Council adopted a resolution to begin the process to transition to district elections.  This means that those who run for City Council will need to live in the district where they seek election. The Mayor's seat will continue to be elected at-large.  Five community meetings were held in May to learn about the process and provide input.  It is anticipated that draft boundary maps will be posted on or before June 14, 2017.  The public will be able to address the Council at the June 21, July 25, and August 1 meetings. To view draft boundary maps, videos of community meetings, background information and more, please visit http://bit.ly/2q2Otp1.

OTC May 2017.jpg

Oceanside Transit Center Improvement Project- SANDAG's progress continues on the improvements being made to Oceanside Transit Center. Crews are finishing up work on the new southern platform and third track. Test trains ran several nights in April and May to be sure that the signals were operating properly. The testing was successful and the platform opened on Tuesday, May 30. As demolition and construction begins at the northern platform closest to the station, trains will no longer board on Platform 1, and passengers should allow extra time to find their new boarding location. Signs will be posted to direct passengers to their trains. There will continue to be intermittent nighttime work required to complete the construction, which is anticipated to be finished by late 2017. The project will enhance the capacity and reliability of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) coastal rail corridor, improve schedule efficiencies and travel times, and modernize the station for a better rider experience. Learn more by visiting KeepSanDiegoMoving.com/OTC, emailing LOSSANRail@KeepSanDiegoMoving.com, or calling 858-549-RAIL.

Weeds size 150.jpg

Weeds...Whose problem are they?  You may have noticed patches of weeds in areas around town, which have grown rapidly with the winter/spring rain.  Property owners are responsible for clearing weeds. This is very important as we enter the hot summer months and more incidences of wildfires occur.  The City of Oceanside Code Enforcement Division may send notices to owners requiring the removal of overgrown vegetation. In the interest of a fire safe and beautiful community, let’s all do our part to keep Oceanside free of fire danger and a nice place to live. Complaints of properties in need of weed abatement may be reported by emailing CustomerCare@ci.oceanside.ca.us, by calling (760) 435-4500, or by getting the free “My Oceanside” City app and reporting issues 24/7.  You can get the free City app on your mobile device by searching "My Oceanside" in the apple or android stores.
